Hey everyone! Welcome back to my blog!
This week I just wanted to recap and give some thoughts on the highly criticized IndyCar race at Texas race last weekend.
So I'm not a very big fan of the Texas race.
For some race fans this race is highly anticipated, but for me I don't like the stress and terror and the pit that lives in my stomach for three hours. I don't enjoy watching the race through my fingers.
Last years race was an embarrassment and the year before was just a mess in general with Josef Newgarden's huge crash and then everything to do with the postponed race. I mean the finish was great but everything else was kind of a disaster.
And after Indy and all the one car crashes that occurred and the overall displeasure with the cars I was sure Texas was going to be a disaster.
So long story short I wasn't; exactly looking forward to this race.
However, I was pleasantly surprised by the overall result of the race.
There were only a few crashes as is standard at an oval and it wasn't just carnage like it was last year. It was refreshing.
And considering everyone was worried there would be any passing I was pretty content with the amount of passing.
It wasn't just Rossi out there passing!, It was other drivers too!
So overall I was happy with the race result and it seams like the drivers were too for the most part.
However, it appears that a lot of fans are not satisfied with how the race went.
As Robin Miller put it, I think we've been spoiled the last couple years so people are upset now.
Well I'd rather watch a decent race then watch a crash fest that closely resembles a NASCAR race, alright?
But I however still take issue with the problem of tire blisters.
I don't get why its a issue.
Yes, yes I know its about how the team builds the car and such and such, but I still don't understand why its only at Texas that it happens. Other tracks get hot too!
And I know it was mostly just Team Penske that has issues, but still, tire blisters shouldn't be effecting the race.
I know Firestone does a really good job with the tire compound and its a step up from last year, but I'm still not happy.
And yes, part of my anger my come from the fact that I thought my IndyCar fan stay picks were fantastic and they only ended up being mediocre because 3 of my 4 picks were Penske drivers.
Need I say much more?
So before I end this hot mess of a blog I feel that I do need to give Scott Dixon a nod.
The man showed up on Saturday night thats for sure.
Apparently he realized that we all were kind of forgetting him in the background this season and he decided he better step it up.
And he did just that.
The man has 43 wins in IndyCar. FOURTY THREE.
If that isn't impressive then I don't know what is.
All hail the Ice Man.
On that note..
